Frequently Asked Questions

When does the conference begin and end?

The 2025 MMYC Spring Conference will insha’Allah be from Friday, April 18 to Sunday, April 20. The conference will begin as soon as attendees are registered and adjusted in their rooms. Participants should be at the Hilton Doubletree Detroit-Dearborn Hotel for check in by 4:45 PM on Friday. Registration on Friday will end at 6 PM. Attendees will depart at 3:30pm on Sunday.

Is the conference overnight?

Yes – attendees will spend Friday night and Saturday night at the Hotel. Attendees will be sharing a room with their group of 4 or 5, one of which is an adult counselor. Rooms have 2 large beds. It is up to the attendees to decide whether they want to share or would like to bring a sleeping bag.

Is food provided?

Food is included, being catered by various local Halal, Muslim-owned restaurants. If attendees have allergies, we encourage them to bring food along just in case. If the allergies are more severe, please email us, and we will accommodate Insha’Allah accordingly. We will have the food menu available shortly before the conference.

Who will be sleeping in the same room as my child? Will there be a counselor?

Attendees will be assigned groups at registration whom they will spend the weekend with (including at night). Each group will consist of 3-4 youth of similar age and an adult counselor.

What is the schedule? Will there be lectures? Any other activities?

Attendees will be immediately assigned their groups upon registration on Friday and report to their designated counselor whom they will spend the weekend with. The schedule is a mix of lectures by credible speakers, prayer, duaa, entertainment sessions, and activities. The speakers and topics will be made available soon, Insha’Allah.

Do attendees choose their groups?

Attendees do not choose their groups. Instead, they will be placed in groups with other attendees of the same (or similar) age/grade. This is intended to encourage members to build relationships and leave the conference with new friendships.

Will attendees have their phones?

Phones will be collected by each group’s counselor at the beginning of the weekend. We hope that this weekend will allow attendees to unplug and allow them to disconnect from their everyday lives. At the discretion of each counselor, attendees will be able to use their phones to contact parents if necessary.

Are parents allowed to stay the weekend?

Parents should plan to drop off and pick up their kids, only. Parents will not be permitted to stay, participate, or attend the conference or any other related activities, except for on Parent’s Night (Saturday 4/19). We hope to provide a safe, nurturing, Islamic space for the attendees, and hope parents will trust us in delivering this.
